Riddick - Rule the Dark

Hi guys!

Here's my Riddick Contest Entry! Please watch it FULL RES. Because it's not widescreen, it'll look funny unless you maximize it.

This competition has been a crazy one! There are so many great entries, it's really cool to see everyone's taken on our favourite Furyan.

I decided to do a full 3D scene with this guy. Everything you see has been modeled and built from scratch in either Zbrush or MAX, textured, lit and rendered. I then composited everything in Photoshop. Theoretically, I guess I could animated him if I wanted to

I've been hard at work at this piece for 2 weeks straight. I started off wanting to do a strong, action scene and had made at least 7-8 previous 3D scenes, characters and compositions. All of which I developed, none of which I liked...

I decided to go for this composition, which is different from a lot of the action-oriented entries I've seen. I guess I wanted to show that Riddick really isn't too bothered by any of these strange creatures...seeing as he Rules the Dark.
